Breaking: Popular Fox News Host Leaves Network — What We Know

The graphic is referring to a real Fox News Media departure, but it is misleading about who is leaving and uses a generic composite image that does not appear to depict the person involved.
On September 3, 2026, Fox News Media announced that longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo was no longer with the company after 12½ years. The network said her departure was effective immediately and gave no reason.
Maria Bartiromo is actually out at Fox
Bartiromo joined Fox Business in 2014 after a long career at CNBC. At Fox, she became one of the network's most recognizable business and political personalities.
She hosted Mornings with Maria, Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street, and Fox News Channel's Sunday Morning Futures. Fox confirmed that the September 3 edition of Mornings with Maria was her final episode.
The network subsequently renamed the morning program Mornings with FOX Business, with rotating anchors. Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street was also renamed FBN's Wall Street, initially with Cheryl Casone and rotating hosts thereafter.
For Sunday Morning Futures, Fox said Jason Chaffetz would host the September 6 broadcast while a permanent replacement would be announced later.
The reason for her departure remains disputed
Fox has not publicly explained why Bartiromo left.
That has generated considerable speculation because she had been off the air for several weeks before the announcement. Some recent reports have connected her departure to allegations that she shared internal Fox editorial guidance with Trump administration officials concerning coverage of claims about the 2020 election. Those reports remain contested.
Bartiromo's attorney, Bryan Freedman, has strongly disputed descriptions of the situation as a firing, saying reports that she was fired or was no longer an employee were false.
So the safest factual description is “Fox News Media parted ways with Bartiromo” rather than asserting as an established fact that she was fired for a particular reason.
The graphic itself is misleading
The biggest problem with the viral image is its presentation.
It shows three Fox personalities, apparently as a generic composite, while the headline says only that a “Popular Fox News Host” is leaving. It does not identify Maria Bartiromo, the person actually named in Fox's announcement.
More importantly, the departure is not merely a rumor. Fox News itself confirmed that Bartiromo was no longer with the company effective September 3.
There is also no evidence from the Fox announcement that the network is experiencing a mass departure of its leading hosts.
In fact, Fox's current programming pages show Martha MacCallum, Harris Faulkner and Bret Baier continuing to host their respective programs.
Fox is making other programming changes
Bartiromo's exit comes amid several programming changes at Fox.
For example, Fox announced in August that Emily Compagno would move from Outnumbered to The Five as a full-time co-host beginning September 8. A rotating Fox personality will temporarily fill her Outnumbered position.
That means the network is undergoing a noticeable reshuffling, but it does not mean that the personalities pictured in the viral graphic are all leaving.
What the viral graphic gets right — and wrong
What it gets right:
- A major Fox News personality really did leave the network.
- The departure happened abruptly.
- Fox confirmed the change on September 3, 2026.
- The departing personality had been with Fox for more than 12 years.
What it leaves out or exaggerates:
- The host is Maria Bartiromo, not one of the three people pictured.
- Fox has not publicly provided a reason for the split.
- Claims that she was definitively “fired” remain disputed by her attorney.
- There is no evidence that the three personalities pictured are collectively leaving Fox.
Bottom line
The underlying news is real: Maria Bartiromo has left Fox News Media after 12½ years.
But the viral graphic is poorly constructed and potentially misleading. It uses unrelated Fox personalities as its visual centerpiece and turns a confirmed departure into a vague “popular host is done” story without naming Bartiromo or explaining that the circumstances surrounding her exit remain disputed.
