A GoFundMe campaign for Lindsay Clancy's parents has surged past $1.1 million following the mistrial in her triple-murder case. Organizers have raised the fundraising goal to a staggering $3 million as the legal process continues.

PLYMOUTH, Massachusetts – Supporters of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother whose murder trial ended in a dramatic mistrial on Friday, have flooded a fundraising page for her parents, pushing donations past $1.1 million and climbing .

The "Musgrove Family Fund" on GoFundMe has received an outpouring of contributions ranging from $5 to $5,000, with three generous supporters each donating $5,000 during the trial . As of Saturday, the campaign had raised **$1,167,727** from more than 34,400 donations toward its new $3 million goal .

Goal Raised as Legal Process Extends

On the same day the mistrial was declared, organizer Brandee Mulligan announced she would raise the fundraising target . The original goal of $2 million was increased to **$3 million** to account for the extended legal proceedings .

"I've decided to raise the goal of this fundraiser since this process has been extended, so is the time Paula and Mike will remain away from their home, continuing to carry the costs that come with being there for their daughter every day," Mulligan wrote in an update .

"The original purpose of this fundraiser hasn't changed — it's simply to take one thing off their plate while they continue to show up for their family. If they have to keep showing up longer, I want to make sure the support does too" .

A Stranger's Initiative

Mulligan, a 42-year-old mother of three from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, launched the fundraiser on August 11 after following the case on TikTok . She initially created the page without direct contact with the Musgrove family .

"I just was one of the millions of people watching the case, and I was like, what can we do? And so, I put it together," Mulligan told the Daily Mail .

After her videos gained traction, she managed to reach Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, who confirmed that Clancy's parents — Mike and Paula Musgrove — would accept the funds . Mulligan spoke with Mike Musgrove, who "extended their heartfelt appreciation to everyone that is a part of this" .

Why the Fundraiser Exists

The GoFundMe campaign was created to help Clancy's parents, who have shouldered enormous financial burdens while supporting their daughter through the court proceedings .

The couple relocated from their home in Wallingford, Connecticut, to Massachusetts to remain close to Clancy during her trial . According to the fundraising page, the retired mother and photographer father have depleted savings accumulated over a lifetime to cover travel, lodging, and living expenses .

"They have spent years absorbing the travel, lodging, and living costs required to remain close to their daughter, drawing down savings they spent a lifetime building," the GoFundMe page states .

The fundraiser emphasizes that donations are not meant to take a position on Clancy's case or its outcome .

"Nothing about this fund asks anyone to share their view of Lindsay or the criminal case. It asks donors to recognize the extraordinary financial burden her parents have carried simply by continuing to be present" .

Verified and Legitimate

A GoFundMe spokesperson confirmed the page is "verified" and that "all funds will go to Mike Musgrove as the intended beneficiary of the fundraiser" .

The fundraising page clarifies that "Mike and Paula are the named beneficiaries of this GoFundMe and receive the funds directly. I do not have access to the money" .

The campaign falls within GoFundMe's terms of service, as it does not fundraise for the legal defense of someone accused of a violent crime — a prohibited use — but rather supports family members .

A Divided Case

The fundraiser has sparked both passionate support and sharp backlash. While hundreds of donors have contributed messages of encouragement, others have criticized the campaign .

"I cannot imagine the depth of the pain your family has endured and continues to carry," one donor wrote .

"This is donation #5. I can't imagine what Lindsay and her family are feeling right now," another penned .

Multiple fundraisers naming Clancy have been created, both in support and opposition . GoFundMe has stated it is "continuing to monitor the platform and reviewing related fundraiser starts. Any found to be in violation of our terms of service will be removed" .

The Case That Captivated the Nation

Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan — with exercise bands in their Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023 . She then attempted suicide, leaving her partially paralyzed .

Her defense argued she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis, worsened by prescription medications . Prosecutors contended she carefully planned the killings .

On Friday, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial after the jury of nine women and three men could not reach a unanimous verdict following 38 hours of deliberation over seven days . The jury was reportedly deadlocked 11-1 .

The next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29, when prosecutors are expected to signal whether they will retry the case, offer a plea, or drop the charges entirely .

For now, Clancy remains at Tewksbury State Hospital, where she has been held since the killings — and the GoFundMe continues to climb, a testament to the polarized emotions this case has unleashed across the nation .
